James was walking through the corridors, completely unaware that he was being stalked like a mouse. The cat was sneaky and quick, and had a mane of fiery hair.

She followed her mouse through the castle, past the Great Hall and up the Grand Staircase. Finally, her prey paused outside his little mouse hole.

The portrait of the Fat Lady was large enough to hide a short tunnel leading into the Gryffindor common room. James spoke a quick word to the lady, who nodded and let her gilt frame swing open. Before the Fat Lady could close it and cut off the mouse's stalker, the cat darted into the tunnel just behind James.

In a matter of seconds, they had entered the common room, a wash of the cool tones of stone and brilliant hues of red and gold. Tapestries lined the walls and plush furniture provided comfort for the thirteen or so students who hung around the room. They were spread out between playing Wizard's Chess at the table by the window and reading on the couches by the blazing fireplace. A couple were pulling Ravenclaws and working on their homework at a table near the back of the common room.

All that the cat noticed was that there were enough people to make her attack momentous.

For once, James' friends weren't following him around, and so the cat felt no guilt when she pulled out her willow wand and whispered a near-silent charm.

There was a puff of magical smoke, bright yellow and sparkling, and when it cleared in a moment, the whole common room was staring at James and the cat who stood right behind him.

"Always wanted to try that one," the huntress commented lightly in the expectant silence. As soon as she spoke, the whole of the common room erupted into laughter, pointing and gasping and cackling and yelling.

James looked down at himself slowly, deliberately, with the attitude of someone expecting bad news. And when he saw himself, he groaned and turned to look at the cat.

The young wizard had found himself in a witch's blouse, with the loose Gryffindor tie hanging tighter around his thicker neck. The long and sweeping robes of a witch came up to his calves and elbows. But the worst part was the far-too-short skirt that left James crossing his knees and desperately trying to pull the small robes around his legs.

"Lily!" the poor seventh year Seeker called out to the cat, who couldn't hold in her laughter anymore and doubled up. the spell she'd used had switched her clothes as well. She wore baggy pants and Jame's sweater that was too large. His Gryffindor tie was almost like a necklace on Lily, and his robes were falling to the ground. The tip of Lily's fingers barely peeked out from the voluminous sleeves.

She was laughing so hard that her humor was infectious, no matter the wound to James' pride. He grinned and swished his wand, switching their clothes back before going over to his little cat.

He leaned down and said, "Oh, it is on."
